SINGLE VISIT, FULL PORCELAIN CEREC CROWN

CereC

We are proud to be able to offer same-day, single visit full porcelain crowns! We are one of very few dentists in North Georgia that offer this advanced technology. In the past, restoring a tooth with a crown was a tedious, multi visit procedure. Dr. Gritsiv, at Oakwood Smiles, has left the past behind. We can help protect your mouth by placing porcelain crowns onto damaged teeth. A crown is a restoration that covers, or "caps," a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is broken down and fillings won't solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the crack, so the damage doesn't get worse. Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn't enough of the tooth remaining, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, and to cover badly shaped or discolored teeth. CEREC crowns create beautiful and customized restorations that last decades.

 Advantages of using CEREC Technology:

  • Rapid Results: Your tooth is fully restored in as little as 90 minutes start to finish. There’s no need for temporary restorations or follow-up appointments. CEREC crowns are made in just one visit, saving you time.

  • Customization: Every CEREC crown is precisely customized to your tooth to preserve as much natural enamel as possible.

  • Natural Aesthetics: The porcelain used to create same day crowns is very similar in appearance to your natural enamel. We will carefully select the shade of porcelain that best matches your smile. CEREC crowns look and feel natural leading to beautiful results!

  • Lower Treatment Costs: Same day crowns reduce the need for temporary crowns and multiple dental visits, saving you time and money.

  • Comfort and Precision: Digital technology provides precise, predicable results.

  • Less Mess with Digital Impressions: CEREC crowns are using digital impressions. Our doctors will use an intra-oral scanner to take images and produce a highly accurate, photorealistic photo of the inside of your mouth. This data will be used to construct a 3D model of your teeth. Patients are always happy to hear that these scans are accomplished without any messy or uncomfortable impressions. Gone are the days of having to bite down on a tray of goo to make impressions.

  • Durable Restorations: the restorations are very durable lasting as long as lab-made ceramic restorations and in some cases much longer.

CEREC BEFORE & AFTER

This patient wanted the uneven teeth, gaps, and color of her upper 6 teeth corrected.

This patient wanted the uneven teeth, shape, and discoloration of her upper 8 teeth corrected. She had a desired look that we were able to achieve with these crowns.

CEREC CROWN WHAT TO EXPECT

CEREC uses a sophisticated version of a 3D printer to create your crowns while you wait. Our doctors will use an intra-oral scanner to take images and produce a highly accurate photo of the inside of your mouth. This data will be used to construct a 3D model of your teeth. Using CEREC’s precise scanning technology our dentists capture the smallest detail of your teeth and gum surface which allows for the design of extremely detailed, natural crowns. After, our dentist collects all of the digital images needed the information will be sent to our CAD/CAM software machine that will create a digital tooth restoration. Our dentist then evaluates the digital restoration, adjusts it if needed, and then sends it to the CEREC milling machine.

The CEREC milling machine fabricates your customized dental crown by cutting and shaping your crown to your exact specifications. This process is quick and can be done while you wait! The crown is then polished and placed inside your mouth.

CEREC CROWN FAQS

Do I Have to Wait to Eat After the Procedure?

No, as soon as the numbing medication wears off and you can feel your mouth properly you can resume your normal diet.

Is a CEREC Crown More Expensive vs Crowns That are Sent Out to a Dental Lab?

No, not in our office. They are the same price. We’ve invested in the latest technology to be able to mill your crown in office, while you wait.

Is the Material Used for Restorations Made in Your Office the Same as From a Dental Lab?

Absolutely! The good dental labs in the U.S. and our milling unit use the same exact materials.

How Long Do CEREC Same-Day Crowns Last?

Because CEREC crowns are quicker than traditional crowns, some patients worry that they won't last as long. However, this is not the case. Dental crowns that are created using CEREC technology are no less effective. CEREC crowns tend to fit more precisely than conventional crowns and typically require less refitting. The reduced maintenance of CEREC crowns can translate to even more durability for some patients. The ceramic materials used to make the crown are strong, durable and very long-lasting.

How Quickly Can a CEREC Crown be Made?

Our dentist can create CEREC crowns in an hour by using CAD/CAM technology and our in-office milling unit. We recommend allowing for 90 minutes for your appointment.

What Does “Same-Day” or Single-Visit Dentistry mean?

In dental offices where CEREC is not used, if a patient needed a crown it took at least two visits separated by two to three weeks. The first visit took 1 ½ hours to shape the tooth and take an impression that was then sent to a lab. The patient would be sent home with a temporary tooth until the final restoration was received from the lab. The second visit was another hour to remove the temporary, clean the tooth again, and glue the restoration onto the tooth. We use CEREC to take a digital impression, design, fabricate and install the restoration in 90 minutes, sometimes less.
